2024 was a busy year of exciting new projects, big achievements and opportunities to learn about new technologies and releases. The year flew by, leaving us with much to be proud of.
As we commence the new year, we want to share some of the highlights that made 2024 memorable. Take a look at our key projects from the past 12 months.
Database Services
- Db2 Migration & Upgrade from Db2 v9.1 on Solaris to Db2 11.5.9 on Windows
- Db2 Pacemaker installation and configuration with HADR and Mutual Failover
- Db2 support for a global bank, covering Reorgs, index design, SQL performance, 3rd party tool implementation, and V13 migration advice.
- Db2 pureScale health check and performance review
- Preparing for Db2 V13 upgrade by converting tens of thousands of unsupported tablespaces for a large bank, all without testing outages.
- Db2 Migration from Windows to AWS Linux with Pacemaker and HADR
- We performed data cleansing for a large bank enabling two distinct applications to work together smoothly and saving hundreds of thousands in administrative and verification costs.
- Performance tuning / Db2 infrastructure advice for a large American bank giving advice on Db2 performance and Db2 design for synchronous applications.
- Conducted comprehensive Db2 SQL reviews for major banks, focusing on index design/redesign and High-Performance DBATs to improve application performance and reduce costs.
Infrastructure Services
- Supported a UK high street bank via IBM Expertise Connect with skills transfer, service issue resolution, and progress on Db2 13 migration, UTS conversion, and resilience.
- Conducted a Resilience Report for a major UK bank, addressing recovery from data corruption scenarios ahead of DORA activation.
- Continued collaboration with a US financial services company to address batch serialization issues, enable batch parallelization (pending testing), and set up their performance database.
Modernisation Services
- Data Platform Modernisation delivering core financial services application data to new customer business cloud-based services without impacting the existing source IBM Z Db2 based applications. The work leveraged an extensive understanding of the source application data and delivery requirements.
- Openshift container platform implementation on IBM Z including key platform enabling application delivery through to production service.
- Automated build of IBM z Development and Test environments to support application development, automated CI/CD build and test, and infrastructure tooling assessment and training environments.
- Z platform z/OS application source code repository and build modernisation – working with the customer to design, develop and integrate a modern application source code repository (GitLab), build (IBM DBB), test and delivery toolchain with integrated process automation and reporting.
