2025 - What's your Db2 New Year Resolution?

It’s a new year once again, and we all have some idea of resolutions we want to achieve this year, be it personal or work related. Has your Db2 environment made it on the work resolutions list?

  • Are you on a supported Db2 release? If not, then make sure you mitigate that risk this year. Db2 12.1 is now available with a plethora of new features. Take a look at my recent blog.

  • Is your Db2 environment resilient? How much does your business suffer if you cannot get to your data within a certain time? Loss of data access can significantly impact your business resulting in losses in revenue, customer confidence, market share, and more. There are a number of high availability features in Db2 that allow you to cater for the amount of downtime and budget that is acceptable for your business applications. Db2 provides database clustering (Pacemaker) as well as high availability (pureScale) and disaster recovery capabilities (HADR) designed to maximise data availability during both planned and unplanned events.

  • Do you have adequate resources to look after your Db2 environment on an ongoing basis? Do you have cover during holiday/sickness/other leave? What about peak periods like Black Friday and Christmas? Do your DBAs get a proper holiday, or do they spend it in a hotel lobby, dodgy WIFI and support calls? Here is a flexible solution.

  • We all need a check-up from time to time. Why not start your Db2 year with giving it a fresh look?  A health check can find out what’s really going on under the covers of your Db2 database. Triton Consulting’s database health check involves a comprehensive, structured review of your Db2 environment to highlight any potential areas of concern. Our health check will identify any risks to your organisation’s database version, configuration, availability, disaster recovery, performance and security procedures. So, don’t wait for a major issue to arise, contact Triton to get your database back to good health and give yourself some peace of mind in 2025.
