Db2 for z/OS Automation
Db2 for z/OS Automation Module
The Db2 for z/OS Automation ZMARS Module examines your capability to detect exception operational conditions and other events and take action to address those, based on real-time message tracking by automation software.
The Triton study team will carry out an assessment of your automation processes and policies, based on which messages you are tracking and what actions are driven by detection.
The team will produce an easily consumable report with prioritised findings and recommendations that, if implemented, will enhance your ability to detect and take actions to address operational conditions that can impact availability and resilience.

Why It Matters
It is essential to detect and act on a large number of Db2 for z/OS messages, some requiring immediate automated action to avoid impact on the service, some requiring notification to technicians for review and subsequent action. For example, group buffer pool short on storage conditions, lock escalation, or LPL conditions.
Db2 Message Tracking
Db2 issues a large number of messages that indicate error conditions, and some that require immediate action. Some of the warning messages are also noteworthy and will require further attention to avoid eventual impact to the service.
Taking Automated Action
Some messages will require immediate, automated action to address, others might require notification to your technical support teams for evaluation and action in the short or medium term.
Enhancing Automation
It can be useful to use your online monitor or to create your own processes to detect operational conditions, track the messages they issue and take action. This offers additional safeguards to protect service availability. You can enhance your automation based on your own processing profile and Db2 and z/OS infrastructure.
