We are pleased to announce that John Campbell, Senior Consultant at Triton Consulting, will be co-presenting a Buffer Pool Tuning webinar with Roy Boxwell of Software Engineering.

This is the latest episode in the “When You Think Db2” series and is scheduled to run on Tuesday, April 16th at 2:00 pm BST, 3:00 pm CEST, and 9:00 am EDT.

 

Abstract

The webinar will cover both local and group buffer pool tuning.

For local buffer pool, John will discuss the following subtopics:

  • Introductory comments
  • Common problems
  • Use multiple buffer pools
  • Buffer pool metrics for read efficiency
  • Page classification and LRU processing
  • Buffer pool simulation, use of long-term page fixed buffers, Use of large size real memory frames, Contiguous buffer pool.

For group buffer pool, the following subtopics will be discussed:

  • Common problems
  • Best practice for CFRM Policy settings
  • Rough calculation of the required number of directory entries and changed pages

 

Speaker Bio

John is a retired IBM Distinguished Engineer and an IBM Alumni. He is currently working as a senior consultant for Triton Consulting. With over 40 years of experience working with Db2 for z/OS, John has extensive knowledge of systems, databases, and application design related to Db2.

In addition to John’s presentation, Roy Boxwell will review the method and possibilities of Bufferpool and Group Bufferpool tuning that now exist in a modern world in his presentation titled “Db2 Bufferpool Tuning – The Next Generation with Zowe Desktop.”
